With only 30 days until 'Songs of the Spirit,' we will begin sharing information about some of the collaborators and content in the latest offering of "Patrick Rindt & Friends"

Meet Chloe Crouse — Rindt’s newest ‘Friend’

Chloe Crouse, one of the newest collaborators in the “Patrick Rindt & Friends” offerings, brings the same passion, quality and exceptional musicianship that followers have come to expect.
“Chloe is a godsend!” said Patrick. “She is an amazingly sensitive and musical concert pianist, and I’m so fortunate to have her join us for ‘Songs of the Spirit.’”
By now, Patrick’s story is fairly well known by local audiences. His prestigious education and promising career were cut short by an injury that limited him to left-hand-only performances. But what might have been a tragedy blossomed into an opportunity, as that event would turn his talents toward composing.
Since the beginning of 2017, he has composed two musicals, numerous song cycles, a growing list of art songs, choral pieces and hours of chamber music. For the latest offering, which will feature a more diverse array of styles, Chloe’s versatility as a musician will be on display. She will perform piano accompaniment on the six choral pieces as well as in he rock ensemble for the more contemporary sounds of “Warrior” and “Father, Angel” from “Jeanette,” a musical about Joan of Arc.
“With the great range of pieces on this program, it is so hard to choose a favorite!” said Chloe. “But one is ‘Warrior,’with its powerful female vocals and driving, rhythmic accompaniment in the instrumental ensemble, and another is ‘Fear No More the Heat of the Sun,’ which has a very understated accompaniment that really accentuates the meaning of the lyrics, and finishes with the incredible a capella voices of the choir.”
This native of Madison, Wisconsin, inherited a musical pedigree from both branches of her family tree. She studied percussion, piano and voice at the Case Western Reserve University, in coordination with the Cleveland Institute of Music.
She lived in Ridgecrest briefly during 2018, and returned at the end of last year. During her short time here she has already collaborated with the Ridgecrest Musical Enrichment Society, Cerro Coso Community College Band, Ridgecrest Opera Workshop and High Desert Music Teachers in a variety of performances. (You have a chance to hear her sing and play percussion Friday, Jan. 24, at the HDMTA’s “Music Matters!” performance at 7 p.m. at the Maturango Museum).
You can hear her perform in “Songs of the Spirit” with Patrick Rindt & Friends on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.
“Patrick’s music is such a joy to play — and to hear,” said Chloe. “When I was in college, so many of the aspiring composers ventured into very atonal and bizarre concepts in order to strive to have their work recognized and valued.
“While there are certainly some daring elements and choices within Patrick’s work, he has been thoughtful about creating compositions that always have beauty in them. Especially with many of these works being created for vocalists, I love how much emotion can be carried through in his music and how he has set the lyrics to melody and amazing harmony.
“For anyone attending the upcoming concert, I hope that the power of the human voice will ‘Sing out!’ … Although I will not sell the instrumentalists short — we sure get our moments as well!”
